Case study
At a distributor of beauty and hair salons products, one problematic
document was customer orders. These were transmitted different ways to the
company, either by fax, email or over the phone. Even if a customer placed
an order by telephone, the order wasn't entered directly into the order
fulfillement system, to save time for the customer. Customers also have
access to a colour grid for ordering hair dye. Orders are in multiple
formats and sometimes were nearly illegible. It was therefore hard to
automate their classification.
To remediate these problems, we worked with the company's programmer to
create a program that prints a barcode on a small sticker when an order is
entered into the order fulfillement system. This system also sends the
metadata directly to Quaero. The sticker is placed on the order which is
then scanned in and matched up with the metadata that was already
received.
A daily report is created to help find missing orders.
This allows the company to quickly classify the
documents and to easily access them. This last is important, because
if they want see the customer's original order, it will be in the first
few days.
